CLI → GUI → VUI: "Make me more lazy"

Following is a little article I wrote up back in 2018 for my college magazine. I was 16/17 and stupid, today kids are busy raising millions for startup but I was just figuring out coding, ego-fighting with friends and trying to get a girl out of pure FOMO and status back in college.
So yeah this blog has a lot of grammar mistakes, but I intend to keep it as is because it would be fun to read this later and hey in todays world where everything is heavily moderated using AI tools, its good to have some raw unedited content too. hehe.

Different ways to feed a bot?

Man is just becoming more and more busy in their lives but also just too lazy. There was a time when people had to learn a lot of commands to operate a computer. But then after sometime the company called Xerox just invented the first GUI but then Apple saw it and then created there much better version of GUI. Now when the GUI was created people could just do anything without the commands used in the CLI edition. Then came the Voice inputs now people can just get their things done by just talking to their computers in a natural way. After some years people will also be able to feed data into computer through a direct brain interaction where a single thought can wake up the computer and just another thought will do your work while you are away for a quick nap. And that’s the evolution of the bond between the computers and mankind.

CLI (Command Line Interface)

It was difficult for guys of those day even when they had played a song they had to write a lot of commands on the CLI screen. The famous CMD, Power Shell and bash are example of CLI. Well these are the only CLI our generation of teenage geeks used.

There were many commands such as mv for move, cp for copy, dir for directory. This CLI is still used to do some hardcore computing. There was a generation when only the geeks could handle a computer.

GUI (Graphical User Interface)

The current most widely used interface is the GUI it is irrespective of any language because different images and graphics represent different commands. Windows 10, MacOS 10.14 Mojave and Ubuntu are currently the latest OS having a fluid easy GUI.

VUI (Voice User Interface)

So now we have the most interesting User Interfaces available today for use the Voice User Interface this technology made the whole humanity lazy again like you could simple lay down on your bed and then command your computer to do just what you say! Interesting right!

Now some of the current technologies that allow the computer to think and act the way you would prefer (AI enabled Voice Assistants). Today you can just talk with Alexa in Hindi it will surely respond to you in Hindi. Placing such a voice assistant in a shop connected with every IoT device in the shop makes the shopkeeper easier to please the clients. Controlling your whole home with just your voice is a reality. Today you’ll find that even a 2yr old child will be talking to Google Assistant.

Apple Siri could be taking care of your baby by having an enjoyable conversation with the baby while you are away from home. Even that’s a reality and it’s literally happening.

A Brain interface or Thought User Interface

This is the last thing to mankind the laziest of all. While sitting in your office if you just give a thought that you wanted some hot pizzas delivered at your house when you reach there would be really helpful and it becomes a reality, the previous thought from your brain just gets transferred to your computer and then the computer orders the pizza from the store and tell them to deliver at the specified time. A small thought in your brain could just trigger thousands of different actions.
