Hey, I am Alphons Jaimon!
Remember that kid who stuck an LED into a home socket just to see what would happen? Yeah, that was me. Sparks, flames, and a valuable lesson learned. Fast forward two decades, and I’m still breaking things - except now it’s over-engineered code instead of electrical circuits, and the explosions are metaphorical (mostly).
I’m a GenAI Engineer who doesn’t just execute tasks - I architect complete AI solutions from the ground up. Think data ingestion pipelines that sync in real-time, multi-modal semantic search that understands audio, video, text, and images simultaneously, and production-ready RAG systems with guardrails strong enough to stop the most comprehensive prompt injection attacks. I built RAG before it had a name, did context engineering before it became a buzzword, and shipped chatbots to production when everyone else was still figuring out if GPT-3 was just a fancy autocomplete.
The Philosophy: “Thinkering”
I invented a word for what I do: Thinkering - a combination of thinking and tinkering. It’s thought experimentation taken to the extreme. (some say its Overthinking but hey I have a positive outlook to overthinking unlike some) I can sit idle for hours without digital distractions, just exploring ideas about consciousness transfer, quantum computing, or why the universe decided prime numbers should be so weird. This isn’t procrastination - it’s how I solve problems that don’t have Stack Overflow answers.
My brain apparently decided it wanted to be an INTP-T (Logician). Though every time I take that test it spits out something different, so take it with a grain of salt. What’s consistent? I approach problems from unconventional angles. When everyone zigs with industry best practices, I’m the one asking “but what if we zagged instead?” and/or “Why is everyone zigging?”
The Reality: Fast-Paced, High-Stakes Development
Currently at Etherwise, I’m living in what feels like a perpetual hackathon. We’re a lean team of four handling everything from AI-assisted trading SaaS platforms to automation scripts with deadlines measured in super short periods. Coming from QED42 where everything was structured with proper QA buffers and testing cycles, this is like going from playing chess to playing speed chess while riding a roller coaster. Stressful? Absolutely. But the adrenaline rush and learning curve are addictive.
Before this, I was QED42’s first-ever GenAI Engineer. I didn’t just hold the title - I built the practice from scratch, led training sessions, shipped the Illinois Legal Aid Online (ILAO) platform with merged semantic search and chat, and mentored junior developers while figuring out GenAI before most people knew what that meant. Those late evening brainstorming sessions at the office, bouncing ideas off peers, debugging production issues at 2 AM - that’s where I learned that great code often comes from great conversations.
The Dream: HugrLabs & Consciousness Transfer
Here’s where it gets sci-fi: I’m Co-founder of HugrLabs, where we’re dead serious about consciousness cloning and transfer. Yes, like in Chappie (2015) or Pantheon (2022). Most people hear this and think I’ve watched too many movies. Maybe. But someone has to be impractical enough to chase the impossible, right? Not that we did anything serious yet, we just dreaming, so I just put a name to it so that our dreams and thoughts get structured.
This isn’t just philosophical wandering - it’s the intersection of BioTech, AI, Quantum Computing, and Security where I believe the future lives. Imagine experiencing the consequences of different choices all taken at the same moment. Imagine your mind doing more than your physical body ever allowed. That’s what drives me. That’s what keeps me exploring quantum algorithms, studying neuroscience papers, and building AI systems that might one day contribute to something far bigger. (I barely digest any of the papers but its something)
The Credentials: From LED Explosions to Production Systems
My technical journey started with hardware - Raspberry Pis I read about in magazines five years before I could actually hold one, little super simple RC cars I built from scraps, robotics that barely worked but taught me everything about persistence. Then came the pivot to software during my Diploma in Computer Technology (88%, First Class with Distinction) from Government Polytechnic Ahmednagar.
I skipped traditional college. Not because I couldn’t afford it (though that was part of it), but because the syllabi covered things I’d already learned online. Why pay for outdated lectures when I could build production systems instead? That said, I’m planning to pursue degrees in Quantum Mechanics and Physics from foreign universities that actually push boundaries for me.
In 5+ years since, I’ve shipped:
- AI-assisted form-filling bots with dynamic field handling that actually understands context
- Multi-modality semantic search engines that don’t just keyword match but genuinely comprehend
- Full RAG implementations with batched requests, token optimization, dynamic caches, and never-ending but always-in-context conversations
- AI trading platforms, Notion-to-web converters, lead capture bots, and automation scripts that save clients hundreds of hours
I’m TensorFlow Developer certified, Acquia Drupal certified, and hold certifications from Nvidia DLI and DeepLearning.AI. I’ve presented at DrupalCon Singapore and Drupal Camp Pune on AI-assisted search. I’ve benchmarked 25+ different AI agentic frameworks against public datasets. And I’ve worked with NVIDIA Jetson Nano, Intel NCS2, MT3620, and enough IoT devices to build a small robot army.
The Arsenal: What I Actually Build With
Languages I Live In:
- Python for everything AI/ML, backend services, data pipelines - it’s my Swiss Army knife
- Rust when performance matters and memory safety isn’t negotiable
- JavaScript/Node.js/Next.js for rapid prototyping and full-stack SaaS apps
The AI Stack:
- PyTorch, TensorFlow, OpenAI API, Pinecone, vector databases, embedding models, LLM orchestration, FastAPI for lightning-fast APIs
Cloud & DevOps:
- AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, ALB), GCP, Azure, Linode - I’ve deployed production systems on all of them
- Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines that actually work
Legacy Superpowers:
- 4 years of PHP/Drupal means I understand how to build maintainable, scalable systems that don’t turn into technical debt
- Flutter, C, C++, Dart, Go, Bash, SQL - I pick up languages like some people pick up hobbies
With AI-assisted tools now? I can get productive in any new language in hours, not weeks. Strong foundations in logic and problem-solving matter more than syntax memorization.
The Work Style: Speed Without Sacrificing Quality
I thrive in chaos. Multiple concurrent projects? Bring it on. PoC due in 48 hours? Challenge accepted. Scaling that PoC to production next week? Umm, hold on not really, going prod is delicate matter I take time and think through than rush it.
But speed doesn’t mean sloppiness. I:
- Think security-first - guardrails, prompt injection prevention, OWASP top 10 awareness built in from day one
- Communicate clearly - regular updates, transparent about challenges, proactive with solutions
- Own end-to-end - from requirements gathering to deployment and monitoring, I don’t do hand-offs well (I can try when needed)
- Think radical - the most unexpected solutions often solve the most stubborn problems
The Quirks: Beyond The Terminal
When I’m not architecting AI systems or contemplating consciousness transfer:
- Cubing: My college bestie taught me 3x3, and now it’s my go-to fidget toy. I can solve weird shapes too
- Chess: Absolute chaos. I’m super noob but I love the pressure
- Badminton: I jump too much, run too much - not because I need to, but because I just got to move and hit whatever I can, its the energy
- Swimming: I’m a fish. Back in Kerala, there’s a dam near my house with a river flowing. Nostalgia, memories, and the best place to think
- Reading: Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is still my favorite. If you know, you know
- Cycling: Light weight feeling, wind in face, minimal physical energy - perfect for clearing mental fog
The Vision: What’s Next
I’m looking to work on projects that matter. Not just technically interesting, but genuinely impactful. Whether that’s AI-powered healthcare platforms, quantum computing research, security innovations, or BioTech applications - if it pushes boundaries and challenges conventional thinking, I’m in.
I work across time zones efficiently, respond quickly, deliver working code instead of promises, and think about edge cases and long-term maintenance before shipping. I bring creative solutions to complex problems, and I’m not afraid to question assumptions when something doesn’t smell right.
